My grandparents live in an assisted living community in Montgomery, AL.

These facilities exist, often inconspicuously, in disguise or nestled in shrouds of trees in every American community. While the image I have attached does not depict their location, it is representative of a typical structure. I have also included an idealized internet portrait of a “Country Cottage,” for which their A.L. facility is named.

What time frame: They gave up their home of 47.5 years to move to Country Cottage Assisted Living on July 18, 2005. They will stay there until they die.

We are forlorn, disoriented and relieved.
